DrawAlong is made for kids, so we hold ourselves to a simple standard: collect as little as possible, never collect anything from a child, and say plainly what we keep.
Drawing without an account
Every drawing, tutorial and printable on the site works without signing up. Drawing happens in your browser. A drawing you save without an account stays in your browser's storage on your device and is not uploaded to us.
We count how the drawings are used: when a drawing is opened, started or finished, we record that it happened, with the drawing's name and the time. Without an account that record has no name, email, address or device identifier attached; it is a tally, not a trail.
Family accounts
A family account is for a grown-up. You sign in with an email address (we send a link; there is no password) or with Google, and we store that email, when you signed up and which page you signed up from, and when you last visited. Drawings you save to the account are stored on our servers so they follow you between devices, and so can any storybooks you make from them. The drawing tally above is linked to your account when you are signed in, so you can see what your family has drawn.
A child's signature on a drawing is whatever they choose to write. We ask for no name, age, photo or other detail about any child.
Classrooms
DrawAlong for Schools uses one account: the teacher's. Students never sign in and never give us an email, a password or a photo. When a teacher sets up a class we store the class name, the year level, the teacher's display name and school if given, and for each student a first name or nickname as the teacher typed it and which mascot picture they were given. That is the whole student record.
Drawings made in a class are stored against the teacher's account, labelled with the student's first name and the task, so the teacher can see them, share them with the class and print them. A class device remembers which class and student it belongs to, on that device only. Teachers can remove a student or delete a class at any time, which removes that student's or class's drawings with it.
Analytics
We use Plausible, which is cookieless and does not identify visitors, so there is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. It tells us which pages are visited and roughly where from, not who you are.
What we don't do
We don't sell or share personal data, we don't show ads, we don't track anyone for advertising, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Our data is held by Supabase and served by Vercel; both act only on our instructions.
Your choices
Delete a drawing from your gallery and it is gone from our servers. To delete an account and everything in it, or a class, or to ask what we hold, email us and we will do it. Parents always control their family's data; teachers control their class's.
