How to Draw a Christmas Tree: Easy Drawing for Kids

How to draw a christmas tree in 9 easy steps

A Christmas tree drawing for kids does not get easier than this one: three stacked triangles, a little trunk, a shiny star and a handful of round ornaments. Every line is a shape young artists already know, so even a four year old can end up with a tree worth taping to the fridge.

Follow the nine steps below on paper, or tap "Draw it live" and DrawAlong will guide your child through every line on screen, checking each one gently, cheering them on, and letting them decorate the finished tree with color at the end.

How to draw a christmas tree, step by step

  1. 1Draw the big tree with three pointy tiers

Start with the big tree shape: three stacked triangles with pointy corners, from the tip at the top all the way down to a flat bottom. It is one long line, so take it slow and enjoy the swoops.

  2. 2Add the trunk under the tree

Draw the trunk under the tree, a small rectangle sitting right on the bottom edge. Every good tree needs something to stand on.

  3. 3Draw a curvy line across the top tier

Add a gentle curvy line across the tree near the top. This marks where the first tier of branches ends.

  4. 4Draw another curvy line lower down

Add another curvy line lower down for the second tier. Now your tree has three layers, just like a real one.

  5. 5Put a shiny star on the very top

Time for the star. Draw a five-pointed star sitting right on the very tip of the tree, where every tree topper belongs.

  6. 6Hang a round ornament on the top tier

Hang the first round ornament on the top tier, a little circle like a shiny ball.

  7. 7Add an ornament on the middle tier

Add another ornament on the middle tier, over to the left.

  8. 8One more ornament near the bottom

One more ornament near the bottom, on the right. Beautiful!

  9. 9Draw the little stand at the bottom

Finish with the little stand under the trunk so your tree can stand up tall and proud. You did it!

Time to color!

Classic green tiers with a brown trunk and a golden star always look great, then let the ornaments go wild: red, pink, blue, yellow, whatever feels merry.

In the live version, coloring is tap-to-fill: pick a color, tap a part, done.
