A frog is a perfect drawing for little artists: it is really just one big round body with two bulgy eyes sitting on top, a creamy tummy, two folded legs with little toes and the widest, happiest smile you have ever seen. Every line is a simple curve, and the finished frog looks ready to hop right off the page.

Follow the nine steps below on paper, or tap "Draw it live" and DrawAlong will guide each line on screen, checking every stroke as you go.

How to draw a frog, step by step

  1. 1Draw the frog's big round body

Start with the frog's big round body. It is a bit wider at the bottom, like a friendly green bean bag.

  2. 2Draw one big bulgy eye on top

Draw one big bulgy eye sitting right on top of the head, like a ping-pong ball.

  3. 3Draw the other big eye

Draw the other bulgy eye next to it. Frogs love to peek over the water!

  4. 4Draw the left leg with its toes

On the left side, draw the folded back leg with its three little toes at the bottom.

  5. 5Draw the right leg with its toes

Draw the matching leg and toes on the right side.

  6. 6Draw the great big smile

Now the best part: one great big smile stretching all the way across.

  7. 7Draw the round tummy

Draw a curved line near the bottom for the frog's round tummy.

  8. 8Add a dot in one eye

Add a big dot in one eye so your frog can see the flies.

  9. 9Add a dot in the other eye

Add a dot in the other eye. Ribbit, all done!

Time to color!

Classic look: a green body and eye bumps, forest green feet, a cream tummy and dark eyes, or go wild with a purple or orange frog!

In the live version, coloring is tap-to-fill: pick a color, tap a part, done.

Frequently asked questions

Is a frog a good drawing for young kids?
Yes, it is one of the friendliest ones. It is mostly one big shape plus little bumps and circles, so kids around ages 4 to 8 can finish it in a few minutes and it always comes out cute.
What if my child's lines are wobbly?
Wobbly lines are completely fine. DrawAlong checks each stroke gently and accepts lines that are close, not perfect. Wobbles just make every frog one of a kind.
What do we need to get started?
Nothing special. The guided version runs free in your web browser on a tablet, phone or computer, and drawing with a finger works great. On paper, any pencil or crayon will do.
