How to Draw a Pig: Easy Step-by-Step for Kids
How to draw a pig in 10 easy steps
A pig is a perfect drawing for little artists because it is almost all circles and ovals: a round head with two pointy ears, a big body, four little legs, a big oval snout and a springy curly tail. Nothing tricky, and the finished pig looks round, happy and huggable.
Follow the ten steps below on paper, or tap "Draw it live" and DrawAlong will guide each line on screen, checking every stroke as you go.
How to draw a pig, step by step
1Draw the round head with two pointy ears
Start with the pig's big round head, and give it two pointy ears right at the top. Draw it near the left side of your page so the body has room.
2Draw the big body and round bottom
From the side of the head, draw a big body that sweeps out to a nice round bottom, then comes back along the tummy.
3Draw the two front legs
Under the tummy, draw the two front legs together, like a wide letter U with a bump in the middle.
4Draw the two back legs
Now draw the two back legs the same way, under the round bottom.
5Add the curly tail
Add the famous curly tail at the back. One little loop is all it takes!
6Draw the big round snout
Draw a big oval snout right in the middle of the face. This is the most piggy part of the pig.
7Add one little nostril
Add one little oval nostril inside the snout.
8Add the other nostril
Add the other nostril next to it. Oink oink!
9Draw the first eye
Draw a small round eye above the snout.
10Draw the other eye
Draw the other eye to match, and your pig is ready for the mud puddle.
Time to color!
Classic look: a pink pig with a cream snout and dark nostrils, or go silly and make a purple or green pig instead.
In the live version, coloring is tap-to-fill: pick a color, tap a part, done.
Frequently asked questions
- Is a pig a good drawing for young kids?
- Yes, it is one of the friendliest drawings there is. Almost every step is a circle, an oval or a short line, so kids around ages 4 to 8 can finish the whole pig without help.
- What if my lines come out wobbly?
- Wobbly is welcome! DrawAlong checks each stroke gently, so a line just needs to follow the general shape to count. A slightly lumpy body makes the pig look even more cuddly.
- What do we need to get started?
- Nothing but this page. The guided version runs right in the browser with a finger, stylus or mouse, and no downloads. Drawing on paper instead? A crayon and any blank sheet work great.
