How to draw a carrot in 7 easy steps

Follow the seven steps below on paper, or tap "Draw it live" and DrawAlong will guide each line on screen, checking every stroke as you go.
How to draw a carrot, step by step
1Draw the big carrot, wide at the top and pointy at the bottom
Start with the biggest shape: a tall carrot that is wide and round at the top and comes down to a soft point, like an upside-down ice cream cone.
2Draw a leaf leaning out to the left
Draw the first leaf on top, leaning out to the left like it is waving hello.
3Draw a tall leaf pointing straight up
Draw a tall leaf right in the middle, pointing straight up at the sky.
4Draw a leaf leaning out to the right
Draw the last leaf leaning to the right, so the leafy top looks nice and full.
5Draw a little curved line across the top of the carrot
Draw a short curved line across the top part of the carrot. Real carrots have these little ridges.
6Add another little line across the middle
Add another little curved line across the middle of the carrot.
7Add one more little line near the pointy tip
Finish with one more short line near the pointy tip. Your carrot is ready to crunch!
Time to color!
Color the carrot bright orange and the leaves green, or try a purple carrot, they really do grow that way!
In the live version, coloring is tap-to-fill: pick a color, tap a part, done.
Frequently asked questions
- Is a carrot a good drawing for young kids?
- Yes, it is one of the easiest drawings in the app. There is only one big shape to draw, and the leaves and ridge lines are all short strokes, so kids as young as four can finish it and feel proud.
- What if the lines come out wobbly?
- Wobbly is completely fine. DrawAlong checks each stroke gently, so a bumpy carrot outline or a crooked leaf still counts. Real carrots are bumpy and crooked too.
- What do we need to draw along?
- Nothing extra. The guided version runs right in the browser with a finger or a stylus. For paper drawing, any pencil or crayon works, and orange and green crayons are perfect for coloring.
